Is sexism still a thing? Females are allowed to do football and basketball, right? Well males and females have been dancing for quite a while. Females are known for dancing, usually known for a female sport. Allowing children to think that if you dance as a male, you are not normal. Which is not true and should never be true. In the state of Utah, United States of America. Males are not allowed to participate in a sport famously known as "Drill Team." Drill team is available for females between the ages of 14-18. Freshman year all the way through senior year. Drill team is close to Dance Company or even cheer. I am Hector Perez, and I have been dancing since I was 12 years old. I trained since then, now I am turning 16 and I'm in my sophomore year in high school. I was disappointed finding out that males were not to try out because it was against regulations. As a year passed by I decided to speak up that no one (FEMALE OR MALE) should not be able to participate in a sport because of their gender. This year is the year of changes and the year of new beginnings, I am hoping that by the new school year 2016-2017 males will be participating and competing on drill teams across Utah. I have shared my problem across social media and have had many shares, retweets, like, favorites etc. so by agreeing and supporting my petition, we could have males be able to participate with females on drill team. Please share this with who ever agrees. (You, Your parents, Cousins, Friends, Aunts, Uncles, Peers, Teachers, Students, Children etc. Anyone that support please help and speak up!
