Tennessee's "Don't Say Gay" bill failed to pass as the state assembly ended last year, but now it's back with added regulations.
SB 234 would prohibit teachers from discussing homosexuality or anything "non-heterosexual" in any way, shape, or form with children in K-8 and would now require teachers or other staff members to out students to their parents or guardians. State Sen. Stacey Campfield (author of the bill) has said that students who are "at risk" for "LGBT behavior" should also be included in this.
LGBT youth can be put in danger if they are outed before they are ready. 40% of homeless youth are LGBT, and many others are rejected, being put at a higher risk for suicide and depression.
Please tell the Tennessee State Assembly to put the "Don't Say Gay" bill to rest once and for all!

The "Don't Say Gay" bill is now back, with added restrictions. Teachers are not only prohibited from discussing homosexuality or anything "non-heterosexual", but also are required to out students to their parents or guardians, even if they're not LGBT. State Sen. Stacey Campfield said that "at risk" students for LGBT behavior should be included in this.
LGBT youth are often rejected and end up homeless, with 40% of homeless youth being LGBT, or suicidal and depressed.
