Every special needs person who is in a band or orchestra at any age wants to be apart of the marching arts, but how can you be apart of an art form that does not accommodate people with special needs that weather they like it or not forces them into a materialistic environment where they are hazed and abused for who they are?
Every year low income schools with music programs are being viciously targeted by groups like Bands of America and Drum Corps International many of them with special needs individuals who claim they are charities who want to help their school bands if they join a competition where the art-from is judged and controlled like a sport and promise in the end they will win when in reality they are being duped and treated unequally. So much that most of the bands that do win are ones where special needs people are excluded and unaccepted, get the most sponsors, and have a higher income. Marching Bands and Brass Corps are suppose to be places where people who love and want to learn music are taught, and are accommodated for their needs not a place where the best band wins. These groups must be investigated by the government and must be hold accountable for letting arts become sports and clearly ignoring Title 9 for their own share of the wealth they get from school directors and donors for their cause that is in reality their means of profit.
It is sick and unnerving that people in the band community have let this go on for too long all so a director can get cash and a trophy instead of helping his or her community. These musicans are not treated like artist and performers wanting to learn they are treated like men in an army where they are forced to march and sleep in horrid conditions to build, "moral character" and eat food that is low in quality or inedible which would make it hard for the artist phyicaly and mentaly.
Making things even worse is the hazing and discriminatory culture of the bands themselves with cruel rituals of initiation and degradation with physical and psychological torment of the artist and performers by people of their own band that wanted them to be apart of a team of dishonesty and inbalenced hyarchy. No artist wants to be part of a culture that uses these practices as a means of teaching musicians how to be performers of an art that is forced to become a sport and will never be a sport because marching band is a performing art for all communities not just for the people who can afford it and when justified by the rules of Title 9 it will remain a performing art for all people.
