More African American History and Literature in District 205

Conscious Learning Petition.


On this day August 20th 2018 we, the undersigned citizens and teachers of Rockford Il, urge the adoption of policies by our academic institutions (District 205) immediately implement and ensure African American Literature and History on a monthly basis, providing true and fair cultural diversity. Protecting teachers and students academic freedom to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of African American Literature and History. Teachers should be protected from being fired, harassed, intimidated, or discriminated against for objectively presenting African American Literature and History of past and present. Students should be protected from being harassed, intimidated, or discriminated against for expressing their desire and need to learn more about their diverse culture in an appropriate manner. African American Literature and History directly relates to the confidence and belief in personal success of African American Students on a larger spectrum of life.
