Workers in the state of Wisconsin have already had their union rights dismantled, and now certain Republican lawmakers aren't wasting much time coming for their weekend time off. Van Wanggaard and Born are currently creating legislation that would remove a worker's right to a weekend and instead make it optional.
The existing rules guaranteeing weekends are in place to ensure that bosses don't use their positions of power to coerce workers into never taking a day off. By changing the law, it takes even more power away from laborers.
Workers deserve at least a day off for their efforts throughout the week. We encourage all Wisconsin lawmakers to either abandon or reject this idea.
