Dunkin' Donuts Manager Asks Customers to Tattle on Workers Not Speaking English

Dunkin' Donuts customers didn't expect to get a side of racism with their coffee — but that's exactly what happened when the General Manager of a Baltimore franchise posted a sign asking customers to call a manager if they heard employees speak any language other than English.

A horrified customer posted a picture of the racist sign on Twitter where hundreds of customers were outraged. The store has now removed the sign and apologized — but no other steps have been made and the manager who placed it is still employed by the franchise.

This sign was more than offensive, it's dangerous. With one thoughtless act, the Dunkin' Donuts manager was sending a message to customers that any immigrant workers speaking their first language should be scorned, weren't valued — and should not be accepted.

Sign and share to make sure Dunkin' Donuts holds this manager — and itself — accountable for this racist attack on its workers.

In today's worrisome political climate, words matter. President Trump has used racially-charged language against immigrants, such as calling Mexican immigrants "rapists" or comparing them to vermin, to justify cruel and vicious anti-immigration policies — including separating some 2,000 children from their parents.

Earlier this year, a racist Pro-Trump lawyer went on a viral rant when he heard New York deli employees conversing in Spanish with customers, threatening that he'd have them "kicked out of my country" and would call ICE to have them deported.

Dunkin' Donuts has called the sign "inappropriate" and now considers the case closed — but we need more action. This manager needs to be fired for this offensive act and Dunkin' Donuts needs to train franchise management to make its store welcoming and inclusive for everyone. Please sign and share.
