Stop District 401 Grade Centers

School District 401 in Elmwood Park IL, wants to pass grade centers, making John Mills Elementary pre-k to 2nd grade and Elmwood Elementary grades 3-5.
What does this mean?
Having children in more than 1 school
Attending multiple PTA meetings and performances
Fundraising for more than 1 school at the same time
What school to volunteer at if any at all
Parent teacher conferences on the same day at multiple schools
Children in the same family on separate buses and schedules
Loss of mentors with older grades
Creating a MEGA grade with up to 10 classes, potentially more, per grade
More transitions
Loss of after school playground friendship and community building
Student safety during peak metra and vehicle commuter times
Increased traffic along Grand Ave and street crossings at the Circle, 75th Ave and 73rd Ave during peak travel times.

This change will not solve the over crowding at the schools.  The total number of students per school will be about the same.  The same renovations/expansion will have to occur whether there is a neighborhood or grade center school.
Update #1vor 5 Jahren
Thank you for signing the petition against grade centers. I am excited about our progress and am counting on everyone to do their small part to help spread the word. Could you do me a favor? I know you have already signed, but I wonder if you could help me by sharing the petition with your friends, family and neighbors. The community conversation is this Thursday 2/28, from 6-8pm at Elmwood Park high school in the LGI room. This is your chance to get your voice heard by the superintendent.
