Stop Photoshopping Models on Magazines!

A large number of girls and women struggle with body image, and I believe part of this is due to the media's portrayl of what it means to look beautiful. We see these stunning women on the covers of magazines, know that they're photoshopped, but we seem to forget that fact. Instead our minds immediately think, "She looks perfect. Why can't I look like that?" It's time for magazines to stop photoshopping those models and show them how they truly look in real life.

In today's culture, body image is a major issue in a woman's confidence, health choices, and daily routines. Wherever we go, it's likely we'll see a magazine with images of perfectly polished models and celebrities with no cellulite, no fat on their bodies, looking flawless. These images are almost unavoidable and are everywhere, including the grocery store, doctors' offices, newspaper ads, etc. I know I've been affected by the photoshopped images as have many other people, and there are thousands of people out there, not just women, who are sick and tired of seeing these images on display. What is wrong with showing what women really look like? Why do their flaws need to be photoshopped, when clearly everyone has flaws. Consider the damage these images are having on the current and next generation. What message are we giving people and how is this going to shape the future?
