Grade Due Date Extension

We, the staff at Forest Hills HS, believe that the administration should extend the due date for grades by one additional day. The extension should be granted for the following reasons:

1. It is Regents week, and there are no students attending classes until January 29th.

2. Teachers were mandated to give a quarterly exam during the week of January 14th. Most teachers will be expected to grade over 150 tests/exams/essays and then submit their third marking term grades.

3. There are students who have extended time accommodations and they have not even finished taking some of their tests.

4. Teachers should not feel harried to finish grading, due to an arbitrarily established due date. 

5. Professional courtesy should allow for a minimum of two full school days after a marking term ends, to submit one's grades.
