Today .... My husband and I , our two toddlers age 3 and 1 and my 17 yr old brother went to have a fun filled day at one of our favorite summer places
Hurricane Harbor in Arlington, TX.
What started out as a fun day quickly turned into a nightmare . Obviously a mother who thought a smoke break took precedent over watching her toddler , left her 8 yr old son to assume the responsibility of his 1 yr old sister. The 8 yr. old only wanting to have fun himself accidentally let her slip under the water. Luckily, I was watching and my 17 yr old brother was within reach of the little girl. He pulled her up just in time.
After speaking to the parents . I decided to report it to security . I felt like I needed to. I was told that unless security saw the situation themselves that there was not anything they could do about it.
For the rest of the afternoon I felt uneasy and a need to "keep an eye" on these little children.
Not one security person came to check or even walk by the area where it happened.
I am so disappointed with SixFlags response to this incident and what could easily have ended in a tragedy .
Smoking should not be allowed in water parks .
It's too distracting . Older siblings should not be left with younger siblings while parents are smoking. Please help me by signing this petition to ban smoking at all water parks in the DFW area.
