I am Canadian and deeply concerned by Israel's deliberate and illegal shelling of the civilian population of Gaza; who at the moment have no means of escape in this terrible humanitarian tragedy. I believe that Canada, our people and its government, should provide the means to give special medical assistance to Palestinian civilians caught up in this horrific conflict, most of whom are United Nations recognized refugees.
I urgently call on the Canadian government, its ministers and leaders, to offer humanitarian and medical assistance. Should medical evacuation become possible, I urge the Canadian government, our Charter for human rights and freedoms, legislated Multiculturalism and our international development funds to provide aid and personnel who can work with doctors in Gaza to address the humanitarian and medical needs of the hundreds and thousands of injured innocent people in Gaza.
The continued blockade and conflict in Gaza only deepens the suffering experienced by the people of Palestine. Not because they are Palestinians, but because they are people just like us, who have children, friends and families, neighbors and communities, who have cultures and traditions; that can no longer suffer what we are currently witnessing.
I ask that you as Canada’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, use your influence to call for an immediate ceasefire, and apply diplomacy and peaceful solutions on the United Nations and Israeli government to end its blockade of the Gaza strip, which is a form of collective oppression and violations of human rights and freedoms therefore deemed illegal and immoral for all, even Palestinians...
