Visitor Visa for Relatives of Canadian Citizens & Permanent Residents

The intent of this petition is to ensure that objectivity is built into the visitor's visa issue process for the blood relatives (brother/sister/Mother/Father) of Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents. Visitor Visa should not be refused to these individuals if Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident in Canada is sponsoring their visit and is willing to take responsibility during their stay.

If you are an immigrant in Canada and want your blood relatives from overseas come visit you, then you probably have experienced this process or heard someone close to you telling your a similar story.  In short, it is time consuming (and don't forget how costly becomes with every try) when preparing documents showing income, property value, value of assets, etc. All this effort and hope result in deep frustration when the visa gets refused. When a 'explanation' is provided trying to justify the rejection, the Visa officer doesn't state clearly what the expected parameters are. For instance, part of the decision's explanation may say the applicant doesn't prove having enough funds to finance his stay in Canada, but never states what would be the minimum sum to be considered; in the cases in which the applicant would be staying at the relative's place.

The Visitor Visa process does not discriminate when it comes to who is trying to visit, it seems the same criteria applies for a regular tourist and for a relative of a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Our request to the federal politicians is to look into the visitor visa process and make it more objective rather than subjective (currently dependent totally on the Visa officer judgement).
