When local banks close a branch older people or others without their own transport will have difficulty in getting to another branch further away. Some in rural areas will have even more difficulty. Many older people do not like online banking, or may not even have access to a computer. If they have, the broadband can be of poor quality and intermittent and you can't pay a cheque in to your computer either.
