Central Saint Martins - We Want Our Exhibition

Central Saint Martins has revoked the right from three quarters of Art Foundation students to exhibit their work at the main CSM site in Kings Cross.

Not only is Granary square a favoured location with thousands of expected visitors but those who can't participate have no alternative exhibition location.

On the CSM website it specifically states on the list for great reasons to apply, "You'll take part in an exhibition at the end of the course, open to the public, family and friends".

As this key part of the course is so clearly outlined we believe that students, especially those spending between £5,500 and £15,400 this year for tuition alone, deserve this opportunity.

Important Update:

Friday 23rd February '18

Firstly, thanks to the thousands of you who have signed this petition and made important comments. The response has been overwhelming and it appears our voices have been heard.

Following a meeting with Chris Roberts, the Foundation Course Director, the Administration has now offered to include the entirety of the student body in the exhibition in some form. Their compromise proposal is that 25% of the year will have a full exhibition and the remaining 75% will exhibit part of their work in a different way.

What has been explained to us verbally in class is that smaller pieces like images, clips, sketchbook work, etc could be used as a "means of representation" for 75% of foundation students and that they would all be displayed in one of four window cases adjacent to the gallery space.

If you decide to sign the petition from this time or make comments it should be on the basis of this compromise.
