### THIS IS NOT MY STORY THIS IS CARLS. I JUST WANT TO HELP###

My mother in law suffered a stroke and was at Lakeridge Oshawa Hospital for 3 months. We noticed she was complaining of pain in her behind and bleeding. The nurses told us it was just a bed sore. We kept asking for her to be rotated. They neglected her and told us Zinc (used for diaper rash) would do the trick. She was in constant pain. A doctor prescribed her cream mostly for yeast infection. Outrageous. They kept her on a hard stretcher while she was in dialysis after repeated requests to take her on a air mattress. Many times we would be there, and the nurses would not come in and check, lie about feeding her (7th floor C wing) and not change her with any frequency. We watched a nurse put a pillow on the floor and put it back on her bed. When we complained, the charge nurse said " what would like us to do?" The nurse manager blamed us for not communicating better with the nurses. Awful neglect. Now she has been discharged with a Stage 4 pressure Ulcer. The wound is the bigger than a donut and 4 inches deep. She has to have a wound vac on for 3 months. She could easily get sepsis or some type of infection. The nurses all told me bed sores are common and pretty much " oh well." Shame on the hospital for this attitude. She is so much pain and it's neglect. We were calm towards the nurses and this is where it go us. We all to have advocate harder for our loved ones. The guilt I feel for not protecting her. We thought she was safe at the hospital. I contacted the CEO but he passed me off and I haven't heard back. Really? Would you let this happen to your family member or do you have enough money so you can hire a private nurse? Shame on the hospital for not holding itself to a higher standard and protecting those most vulnerable. I have many pictures but many too graphic. Even some men have trouble seeing the photos. She has to live with the permanent scar and pain. This hospital needs to do better but if they are not willing to admit fault, how does the conversation even begin....
