In the most corrupt cabinet in U.S. history, it's difficult to pick a single most egregious offense. But the latest from Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross is certainly in contention.
After Trump recklessly and erroneously warned Alabama residents that a hurricane was headed their way, he spent a week trying to justify his unscientific, indefensible, false claim. To make matters far worse, it was revealed that Secretary Ross threatened scientists at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) with firing if they contradicted Trump with things like science or facts.
Add your name if you believe that this brazen act of corruption to help Trump lie to the American people should disqualify Ross as a Cabinet Secretary.
The American public depends on the candid expertise of government scientists to keep us safe from everything from natural disaster and disease to toxins in the air and water. While it's bad enough that Ross betrayed his obligations to appease Trump's insecurities, it also poses real dangers to our nation if our scientists hesitate to tell the truth for fear retribution from a thin-skinned regime.
We know not to expect much from this president and his minions but, as Americans, we have a right to demand more from our so-called public servants.
