Stop the abuse of power! Support our legislators in their demand for Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to resign.
Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has failed to serve the best interest of the United States of America at every turn. His expansive idea of executive power has seemingly allowed the President to completely ignore both Congressional law and the Constitution of the United States of America.
As White House Counsel he opened the gates to torture and the abuse of detainees held in U.S. custody. The Abu Ghraib prison scandal has disgraced our country. Gonzales advised Bush to invent a technical legality which would make his torture of detainees exempt from the Geneva Conventions which Gonzales has all but laughed at, completely disregarding the safety of U.S. troops and the importance of adhering to the Geneva Conventions.
Gonzales now admits that he mishandled the way he fired eight U.S. attorneys. Recently, he also admitted that the FBI has illegally and "improperly" used the Patriot Act to invade the lives of American citizens.
We, the people, have been misrepresented by Alberto Gonzales, who fails to remember his duty to his country. Instead, he has been preoccupied with being the president's attorney. We ask for Alberto Gonzales to resign from his position as Attorney General of the United States immediately.
