Prime Minister: Speak Out for Children at the G8

The G8 summit is upon us - the meeting of the world's wealthiest nations to discuss issues of global concern.

The Prime Minister David Cameron has stressed his commitment to overseas aid, and specifically to helping the world's poorest children and mothers.

This is his chance to make it clear that the G8 must act on the issues of child mortality and hunger. The G8 plan should include a plan for child survival, specific steps to take in order to fulfil their commitment to HIV and AIDS prevention and treatment in Africa, pledges on nutrition and hunger, and more.

This is your chance to let Mr. Cameron know that childrens health is a priority for you too. Please sign the petition today.
Dear Mr Cameron,

In line with the strong mandate you have from the UK public and parliament to improve the health and nutrition of the world's poorest children, please argue for the following at the G8:

-- The G8 should commit to a UN global action plan for maternal, newborn and child survival, with strong national plans, additional finance, a focus on equity and the wider determinants of maternal and child survival, and a robust accountability framework. The G8 communique should specify its own contributions towards this action plan

-- The G8 should specify steps to deliver on its existing 2010 promises to Africa, especially on overseas aid and HIV and AIDS

-- The G8 should fulfil pledges on nutrition and hunger, and deliver at least one fifth of the L'Aquila financing pledge by the end of 2010

-- The G20 should commit its fair share of support to the health and hunger MDGs
