Sexual assault is utterly pervasive the U.S. military. What women who served need is better access to care and more efforts to protect them, not rules that put them at even higher risk.
Unsurprisingly, many Americans rightfully think this is a terrible -- and dangerous -- idea. The draft regulations have received thousands of comments in opposition, many from veterans who have survived assaults and/or received abortions themselves.
