Help Bring Biodiesel to Southwest Virginia!

• can be used in any diesel engine with little or no modification
• is less toxic than table salt and biodegrades as fast as sugar
• improves engine lubrication 
• provides comparable engine performance to petroleum diesel
• shows similar fuel consumption, horsepower, torque, and haulage rates as diesel
• is safer to store, handle, and use than diesel
• decreases our dependence on foreign oil
• is registered as a fuel and fuel additive with the EPA  
• is the only alternative fuel to have fully completed the health effects testing requirements of the Clean Air Act
• meets clean diesel standards established by the California Air Resources Board (CARB)

Biodiesel exhaust has lower overall emissions:

• Unburned hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and particulate matter are substantially reduced compared to emissions from petroleum diesel.
• Sulfur oxides and sulfates (major components of acid rain) are essentially eliminated compared to diesel.
• A lifecycle study sponsored by the Dept. of Energy and the Dept. of Agriculture concluded that biodiesel reduces net CO² emissions by 78% compared to diesel, thus mitigating global warming.
• Biodiesel emissions have decreased levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) that have been identified as potential cancer-causing compounds. Test results indicate that nearly all PAH compounds were reduced by 75% or more.
