Tell Michele Bachmann to Crack Down on Bullying

Michele Bachmann's stance on bullying is confusing at best. In fighting bullying in schools Bachmann asked "will it get to the point where we are completely stifling free speech and expression?... will we be expecting boys to be girls?"

Bachmann is grossly out of touch with the issue of bullying. She clearly does not prioritize the children of her district or else she would realize that while bullies may continue to exist, increased suicide rates should not be a result.

With nine suicides in two years in her district, and many more attempts, it is clear that Bachmann's inaction and anti-gay stance have contributed to turning her district into what is now called a "suicide contagion area."

Of these victims, several were either gay or thought to be gay. Bullying appears to have played a key role in many of the suicides.

All children, gay or straight, deserve to feel safe at school. Demand that Michele Bachmann take a stance against all bullying .
While bullying may be a part of school, the issue has grown beyond the bounds of what is normal and acceptable in schools. In the last two years nine teens have committed suicide in your district, and more have tried. When death is a result of bullying serious action must be taken swiftly.

This is not an issue of gay or straight, this is an issue of protecting the lives of the children in your district. It is unacceptable to allow bullying to continue in this way.

Find a way to put a stop to all bullying in the schools regardless of who it targets. Intolerance and inaction have lead to devastation. It is time for a new approach.
