Tell the U.S. Treasury Department to Put Women on More Currency!

The recent announcement that a woman will be featured on the $10 bill is a promising step for women, especially given their complete lack of representation on our commonly used currency. The new design will be unveiled in 2020 to mark the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, securing women’s right to vote.

But one new bill hardly counts as equity in representation. Plus, the $10 bill will be the ONLY currency that will feature two versions — one with a woman and the other with Alexander Hamilton’s picture still in place.

Shared representation on the $10 bill is not a significant stride toward gender equality!

Women leaders have been, and continue to be, an integral part of American history. And it’s time for more than just one or two of these heroes to have the public recognition they’ve earned.
