Save the CBC

Recent Conservative cuts to the CBC have led to 657 workers losing their jobs -- and a further weakening of Canada's public broadcaster.

The CBC is a core cultural institution that must remain strong in order to fulfill its mandate. That cannot happen without stable and adequate long-term funding, especially in today's increasingly difficult and competitive market.

The budget cuts announced by the CBC's board of directors are worrisome. It is disappointing to see the new Heritage Minister continuing with the Conservatives' track record of abandoning an institution that millions of Canadians count on.
