Tell Congress to stop Medicare cuts to clinical laboratory testing!

Medicare payment cuts threaten patient access to clinical laboratory services, which are essential to preventing and diagnosing diseases and conditions, empowering patients and their clinicians to make informed decisions about care.

Tell Congress to pass the Reforming and Enhancing Sustainable Updates to Laboratory Testing Services (RESULTS) Act this year.
As your constituent, I urge you to protect patient access to essential clinical laboratory services by fixing the broken payment system for clinical laboratory testing. I am deeply concerned that Medicare payment cuts, scheduled to resume January 1, 2026, could jeopardize access to many essential laboratory tests that are used to diagnose, monitor, prevent, and manage common diseases for over 60 million seniors.

Sustainable, long-term payment reform through H.R. 5269 / S. 2761, the Reforming and Enhancing Sustainable Updates to Laboratory Testing Services (RESULTS) Act would protect access to laboratory tests by setting forth a common sense and streamlined approach would stabilize reimbursement for clinical laboratory services and enable continued investment in diagnostic innovation and clinical laboratory infrastructure essential for public health.

After three years of deep reductions, Congress has stepped in to temporarily delay payment cuts five times. These cuts are caused by 2014 legislation – the Protecting Access to Medicare Act (PAMA) – but permanent reform is needed now. Without congressional intervention, more than 800 tests that are used to screen for many serious and chronic conditions will face cuts of up to 15 percent in January 2026.

America relies on a strong clinical laboratory infrastructure to deliver results needed to guide patient care and innovate the next generation of personalized medicine. We urgently need a sustainable solution that will benefit all Americans who rely on high quality diagnostics for their health decisions -especially our seniors and most vulnerable populations.

I urge you to cosponsor the RESULTS Act and enact clinical laboratory payment reform this year.
