Ask Louisiana lawmakers to oppose House Bill 690 to protect public health!

In the midst of Louisiana's first cases of measles recently confirmed by the Louisiana Department of Health and an ongoing whooping cough (pertussis) outbreak that has already killed 2 Louisiana infants, Louisiana lawmakers are considering bills that threaten to dismantle core components of the state's public health infrastructure.

House Bill 690 requires the Louisiana Surgeon General to create rules for the administration of vaccines and other medical interventions approved for emergency use. This could undermine the trust between patient and provider at a time when it's needed most - during an emergency.

Please sign to contact Louisiana lawmakers and ask them to oppose this bill.
Dear [Lawmaker],

Subject: Louisiana Can't Afford a Measles Outbreak. Vote No on HB 377, 555, and 629

As a concerned Louisianan, I urge you to oppose House Bill 690.

House Bill 690 requires the surgeon general to promulgate rules for the administration of emergency use authorization-related medical activities. This bill circumvents the legislative process and inserts state government into the doctor-patient relationship, eroding the trust between medical providers and the people they treat.

Let our experts make the recommendations to their individual patients! This bill undermines the trust between provider and patient, decreases confidence in science and vaccines, and contributes to poor health outcomes.

Please vote NO on House Bill 690 that will further erode the doctor-patient relationship, especially in a crisis. Louisiana families are counting on your leadership to keep our communities safe and healthy.

Sincerely,
