Australian Defence Force Academy: Stop Sexual Abuse in Your Institution

In Australia, the Australian Defence Force Academy has recently come under fire as over 1,000 sexual harassment and assault reports come to light.

It started earlier this year when a video of a woman having sex was distributed without her consent. Most recently, a female cadet was unwittingly filmed in the shower. As these incidents have emerged, the ADFA has encouraged its cadets to further report these incidents and the response has been overwhelming.

What is perhaps more shocking is the idea that this behavior is seemingly acceptable in military organizations. One cadet, after telling investigators that she was gang raped, was met with threats to her career rather than support and legal action. Sexual harassment and assault have become a regular part of military duty, and this trend is unacceptable.

Demand that the Australian Defence Force Academy fight sexual misconduct by fully prosecuting those found to be guilty, and instituting programs to halt this behavior.
The recent reports involving sexual misconduct at the Australian Defence Force Academy are both disturbing and devastating. Sexual harassment and assault should not be part of a cadets experience at your organization.

The overwhelming number of reports that have serviced, along with reports of victim silencing, serve as evidence that the Australian Defence Force Academy has a serious problem with sexual misconduct among its cadets. This needs to change now.

It is unacceptable that so many individuals have experienced sexual harassment and assault while attending your institution. The time for action is now. Fully prosecute any cadets found to be guilty of sexual misconduct and institute programs to raise awareness against this type of behavior and stop it at your academy.
