The unemployment rate in Connecticut is at a staggering 9.1%. To make matters worse, the rise in unemployment has also led to a rise in poverty. Nearly one in four people in Connecticut's most populous city is living in poverty.

Luckily, there is a solution on the horizon. President Obama's jobs bill, the American Jobs Act, can bring significant, innovative changes to the job market in Connecticut.

The bill will put the unemployed back to work through numerous programs and will provide alternatives to lay-offs. And with 95% of Connecticut's businesses being small businesses, the bill will cater to them, helping to create new jobs and hire new workers.

The dire state of Connecticut's unemployment is not going to change unless we take a new approach. Urge Connecticut's Senators and House Representatives to support President Obama's American Jobs Act and help get citizens of Connecticut back to work!
