Stop the Genocide in Darfur, Sudan

After the Holocaust, the world vowed "never again." That vow was repeated after the genocide in Rwanda in 1994. The innocent victims of state-sponsored murder in Sudan cannot wait any longer for the world to make good on those promises.

For over three years, people in Darfur, Sudan, have endured murder, torture, rape, destruction of villages and forced displacement from their homes. 400,000 people are already dead. We are bearing witness to the first genocide of the 21st century. And we are bound by our own humanity and history to do everything we can to stop it.

In this remote region the size of Texas in Africa’s largest nation, over two million people have been violently driven from their homes by a government-backed militia known as Janjaweed.

In September 2004, President Bush labeled the crisis in Darfur “genocide,” but the administration has done little to stop the killings.

Make your voice heard. Urge President Bush to support a stronger multinational force to protect the people of Darfur. It is our right and our responsibility as global citizens to bring our passion and determination to President Bush's door in order to stop the first genocide of the 21st century.
Dear President Bush,

During your first year in the White House, you wrote in the margins of a report on the Rwandan genocide, "Not on my watch."

I urge you to live up to those words by using the power of your office to support a stronger multinational force to protect the civilians of Darfur, Sudan.
