Reverse the decisions against the Japanese Iron Chefs! (specifically Sakai v. Flay)
This petition has ONE purpose, but several issues, regarding the TV show Iron Chef America and its recent battles pitting "American" chefs vs. Japanese chefs. Although we realize this show is purely of an entertainment nature, we also believe that the issues this petition addresses add merit to its purpose of reversing the decision(s). These issues are as follows:
(a)There was not fair judging of the cuisine, which wes not entirely american, as the competitors were not all american either. A more diverse judging panel that can appreciate different cuisines would be more fitting in an international contest.
(b)The networks' choice of Iron Chefs American as purely "marketing" decisions, and not truly representing the best America can offer in the way of Chefs. We realize once again the entertainment value of these "chef celebrities", but we feel that these individuals "represent" america and should be our greatest.
(c)Although, as viewers, we obviously cannot taste the dishes perpared on the program, we believe from what we saw that the Japanese chefs (in particular Iron Chef Sakai) showed more originality, greater skill in preparation, and more attractive plating of the food.
The show is more than entertainment, and we feel that it should be an international sign that Americans know not only how to commercialize, but also how to play fair regardless of the almighty dollar.
Thank you.
