In 1981 the United Nations proclaimed the International Day of Peace. A day to be "devoted to commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples". The United Nations amended the proclamation in 2001 to include a day of global cease fire and non-violence, and invited all nations and peoples to honor a cessation of hostilities for the duration of the day.
At noon on September 21st the International Day of Peace the United Nations will hold a minute of silence. After this minute of silence at 12.01pm (EST)
Bells for Peace, invites the voice of the world nations, its peoples to sound their own bells, horns, whistles, etc, for one minute in celebration of world peace.
