Better Sex Education in Schools
All too often on the news you hear about another young girl delivering a baby and then killing it. While that is a terrible tragedy in itself, the bigger problem is that many of these pregnancies could have been prevented if only schools provided better sexual education. Too many school districts around the country still have abstinence-only education programs. Young girls and boys aroundt the country need to know about protection, about where to seek medical advice in the event of an unplanned pregnancy, and options after there is a pregnancy ranging from adoption to abortion. States all over the country have "Safe Places". So many people don't even know what a safe place is. It is supposed to be a place where a child can be left, no questions asked. The safe place then contacts child protective services, and the child is placed in foster care. People will say, "But information like that will promote promiscuity." Isn't that a risk we are willing to take to protect an infant's life?
