Keep the Breastfeeding Support Program

Support the University of California, Davis Breastfeeding Support Program.

The UCD Breastfeeding Support Program, located in Human Resources, is based on cutting-edge research conducted at the University of California, Davis.   This program is well documented as a national model, serving the needs of students, staff, faculty, visiting scholars and their partners in our greater campus community for over a decade.

We understand that the University will cut this program in 2010, due to the severe budget crisis.  However, this very small allocation of funds (between $6,000-$12,000 per year depending on modifications to the program) affects the quality of life for many people.

The Women's Resources & Research Center, along with the undersigned urge you to work with the university administration to secure permanent funds to sustain this critical program. We believe that resources such as this program, which helps staff find work-life balance and helps to retain women in academia, should be fully supported by the University of California, Davis.
