Preteen/teenage Magazine sends wrong Mesage

The GL (or girls life) magazine is a magazine for kids 10-15 yrs of age. In this magazine you see how the articles talk about helping girls through adolescence. They even talk about body image sometimes. But yet they are also sending mixed messages. They talk about how body image doesn't matter but than they have all these perfectly skinny models and drawings. They even give you tips on how to shape your body. When they give you ideas on exercise they are probably only trying to help girls get healthy but the titles they give the articles and some of the things are saying "Here's how to get a flat stomach." or "Heres how to get a tight butt". And the models are always twigs. So they aren't sending the message that every girl is beautiful no matter the size. And There drawings on some articles are usually skinny girls. Twigs. This petitions is not to stop their magazine but to tell them "You are sending the wrong message." This petition is for models of all sizes and pictures of normal girls. And to stop sending mixed messages. I personally am a teenager who has read the GL magazine. And i personally and going through an eating disorder. All because i thought i was too unbeautiful. Because i thought that i needed to look like the models in magazines. I want to try and make a difference in this world as i start my recovery to end my eating disorder. I don't want other girls to go through what i am going through right now. Please, help end these lies the media tells the world. Thank You.
We are concerned about the mixed messages you are sending the young woman who read your magazine. We find you telling girls that they are all beautiful no matter what they look like. But than we see you models as being twigs. And we see your drawings as teenage girls being super skinny. When you give the girls ideas on exercise the titles and ways you put it down seem like they should be shaping their body. That all girls need flat stomach or tight, small butts. We are not against your magazine. We are just against the way you choose to send mixed messages. We are politely asking for you to consider the idea of having models of all sizes. Drawings of all the average girls. And to be careful of how you word some of your articles. If you are trying to tell girls that they are all beautiful why are you also giving them the idea of having them be super skinny? If you truly believe that all girls are beautiful than you should have no problem of having models of all different sizes. These mixed messages in the media are harming girls both physically and mentally. We ask you to please think about our words and views.
