Teacher Tells 10-Year-Old Black Student That Cops Will Shoot Him One Day

Fourth-grader Malachi Pearson was just messing around with a friend during lunch at Rosehill Elementary School, when he was all of a sudden forced to confront the realities of racism and police brutality.

A teacher at the school, who assumed Malachi and his friend were fighting, tore the kids apart and told Malachi that when he turns 16 and is shot by the police, he will have nobody to blame but himself.

The epidemic of police shootings of unarmed black men shouldn't be taken lightly or used as a threat for normal childish behavior. Please sign this petition to have this teacher fired immediately.

Teachers and school authorities have a responsibility to respect and nurture students to help them grow into flourishing adults - yet so often, black, brown, and female students are faced with discriminatory and degrading comments that have long-lasting effects.

This particular teacher's comments were even more detrimental considering that Malachi's own father had been shot and killed when he was just a baby.

Using the threat of a police shooting to get a child to behave is irresponsible and has no place in schools. Sign now to have this teacher fired now!
