Save the Historic Fairmont Theater Marquis & Doors

Downtown Fairmont West Virginia is about to change, and the Change and Modernization is Welcome: as a New State Office Complex is constructed downtown.
To Make room for the modern State Center a historic landmark is about to be destroyed.

The Fairmont Theater opened in 1946. It was a replacement for the original Fairmont Theater on the same site, which had been destroyed by fire in 1944. The Fairmont Theater was operated by Warner Brothers Theatres Inc. Seating was provided in orchestra and balcony levels.

Later converted into a triple screen cinema, it was closed in late-2007.

There are Art Deco Architectural Gems which need be saved and stored or repurposed and retrofitted including the Theater Marquis sign, Front Entry Doorways and Theater seating.

This petition asks that the County of Marion West Virginia, Grant access and allow for retrieval of these items by Licensed and qualified Contracting Crew and subsequent storage and /or repurpose and retrofitting of these Historic treasures so that they may be openly displayed for future generations, essentially preserving these item of historical relevance for Our City's posterity.
