Italian 2018 General election: Demand a public debate on same-sex marriage!

Two years ago, the Italian Parliament approved the Civil Union law, which the LGTBI community welcomed as a small step forward for achieving equal rights in the next legislation.

Unfortunately, this law doesn't seem likely to go in effect. No big party or coalition has any proposal favoring same-sex marriage in its manifesto.

Some of the most homophobic leaders are running with the Democratic Party. Leaders of the centre-right block promised to cancel the Civil Union law. And the anti-system 5 Stars Movement — afraid to lose supporters — has remained completely silent about same-sex marriage.

It seems like political parties want to postpone marriage equality until they hit the next campaign trail. Italy shouldn't have to wait until 2024 to finally achieve same-sex marriage.

The LGBTI community in Italy deserves to know where their future stands. Sign the petition and demand a public debate on same-sex marriage!
