Open the Seven Hills Creek Trail in Walnut Creek

  • by: Walnut Creek Trails
  • recipient: Walnut Creek residents; runners, cyclists, commuters, and other trail users throughout the East Bay

Support the conversion of a Contra Costa County restricted access gravel road next to Seven Hills Ranch in Walnut Creek to a publicly accessible multi-use trail. This gravel road runs next to Seven Hills School and the beautiful Seven Hills Ranch area, just west of Heather Farm Park and just south of the Contra Costa Canal Trail. Converting this road to a publicly accessible multi-use trail would create a 1-mile loop with the CC Canal Trail and the Iron Horse Trail, and add to recreation options for runners, walkers, and cyclists. It also provides a shorter, low-traffic route for residents of the Walnut-Homestead neighborhood to reach Heather Farm Park without having to go around via Ygnacio Valley Road.

The Contra Costa County Flood Control District currently owns manages this gravel road, which is closed to the public. Join us in petitioning the Contra Costa County Flood Control District to transfer the management of this road to another government entity, such as the East Bay Regional Parks District (which also manages the CC Canal Trail and Iron Horse Trail), that would open this multi-use trail to the public.
