Mayor Jacques Roy, Reduce crime by not issuing alcohol licenses in our neighborhood!

Neighborhoods where liquor and other stores that sell alcohol are close together suffer more frequent incidences of violence and other alcohol-related problems, according to recent research by the Prevention Research Center and others. The strong connection between alcohol and violence has been clear for a long time – but now we know that this connection also relates to the location of places that sell alcohol.

We, the undersigned, call on the Alcohol, Beverage & Drug Abuse Control Commission to deny the request by JR Foodmart 2, LLC (dba: JR's Food Mart) for a liquor license.

Please share and encourage your friends and family to sign the online petition to help reduce crime in our neighborhood. Murders in Alexandria doubled from 2016 to 2017.
