The Credit Woodlands Needs a Leash Free Zone

The neighbourhoods bordering the Credit River from south of Dundas Street to Burnhamthorpe Road, Mississauga are home to many dog owners that have no place to let their dogs run free, burn off access energy, and socialize with other dogs. The Erindale park has several areas that would make an ideal leash free area to service these needs. This petition will be sent to Mississauga City Hall requesting the Mississauga Parks Department and the Credit Valley Conservation Authority set aside an area within Erindale park for use as a leash free zone.
We the undersigned request the creation of a leash free zone to be located in a suitable corner of Erindale Park, Mississauga. Erindale/Credit Woodlands is home to many dog owners who have nothing close by where they can let their pets run free, to burn off access energy and socialize with other dogs. Many owners feel they have no choice but to let their animals off the leash in the park, which puts their animals and the general public at risk. Having a leash free zone in the park would not only provide a much needed facility for dog owners, it would leave no excuse for allowing their dogs to run free amongst the general public and the parks sensitive habitat.
