FIX THE TRACK, BRING THE RACE CARS BACK!

In 2003 the administration of the MN State Fair decided it was a good idea to demolish part of the 1/2 mile race track and end the annual tradition of auto racing on Labor Day in MN.  The reason behind this was announced that the grandstand was deemed unsafe and would require too much of an investment to make the needed repairs to bring it up to safety codes.  This was clearly a lie as the grandstand is still used for various events throughout the year, including every single day of the 12 day MN State Fair for various concerts.  The purpose of this petition is to get supporters to sign so that the petition can be brought to the MN State Fair administration to demand them to use the money generated from grandstand events to make the needed repairs to the racetrack so that we can bring back the races!!!  Once the repairs to the track are scheduled to be made we can get the ASA, ARCA, or  NASCAR to stand behind it and bring the Labor Day race back to MN!

We question where the money went from all of the profits from all of the years from the days of the race at the State Fair.  Why was that money not reinvested into making the necessary repairs to the track?  Where did that money go?

Sign this petition if you want to be a part of reaching the goal of at least 75,000 signatures to present to the MN State Fair board of directors to show that we want the race cars back!

By bringing the race back, it will increase revenue for the local businesses, restaurants, hotels, shops, and it will feed into increasing revenue for the state via sales tax.  It will increase revenue for the Fair by increasing the attendance levels and ticket sales and merchandise for the event.  It's a win win!!!  We just need to make an impact so the administration can see the positives in investing in fixing the track they demolished!

If you want to see the race cars brought back to the MN State Fair, please email; fairinfo@mnstatefair.org, in the subject line type "FIX THE TRACK, BRING THE RACE CARS BACK" then type your message to the MN State Fair administration! There is power in numbers, so let's see what we can do together!!! If you have any old pictures from the MN State Fair races, please feel free to post them, as well as any archived news articles featuring the races!   The MN State Fair General Manager is Jerry Hammers.  Write to him and voice your opinion!!!  Thank you for your support!!!

We the undersigned hereby request you to make the necessary improvements to the 1/2 mile racetrack and grandstand so that we can have our annual Labor Day race at the MN State Fair again!  By bringing this event back, it will increase the revenue for the Fair as well as local businesses, restaurants, hotels and shops.  It will increase revenue for the State by generating more sales tax on ticket and merchandise sales.
