Make Changes to the Clark County Illinois Pound

This is a petition to improve the Clark County dog pound and thereby insure the animals therein receive humane care and treatment.  We demand the animals receive vet care when needed to prevent suffering and the spread of disease.  The pound currently does not allow volunteers, this must be remedied as well.  There are currently no open business hours for the public to see the animals available for adoption or for people who have a missing animal and wish to see if their dog is in the facility.  There must be better advertisement of the animals such as online with a "Pet Finder" page so that individuals from our county as well as surrounding areas can see the animals and thereby better their chance at adoption.  Currently the only advertisement is a small ad in the local paper that usually has a picture of a dog no longer available.  We demand the animals receive better treatment that is at least humane.  Currently, the animals never leave their kennels, even when their kennels are hosed out they are left in.  There also needs to be the option for the animals to be transported to rescues that would better increase their chance for adoption and most certainly increase their chance of survival as most of the animals at our pound never make it out alive.  We would also like to see a cat facility built, either as an addition to the current facility or as a separate building, as there is currently no place for stray cats to go in our county.  In conclusion, we the citizens of Clark County and the surrounding areas demand that the animals at the county pound receive proper vet care, that volunteers are allowed and utilized by the pound, open hours for the public to see and potentially adopt animals, better advertisement, potential transport by volunteers to rescues, a facility for cats, and overall better treatment and conditions for the animals.
