SOLAR STILL DISTILLATION

Four engineering students from the University of Queensland have come up with a portable and affordable solar powered device to procure fresh water on the spot.

Matthew Finn, Mark Baker, Aaron Hinks and Michael McClellan are the masterminds behind the Solar Still distillation unit, a product they believe will excel in a adventure market, providing a reliable water facility for campers and holidaymakers alike.

Combining an easy-to-assemble frame with durable materials, Solar Still can purify up to eight litres of potable water per day.

Weighing a portable four kilograms and with prices expected to be around the two-hundred dollar mark, Solar Still will add something new and commercially viable to the current solar energy market.
