Stop Hotel/Motel "bed tax" increase 10%to 13%

Measure H, will increase the hotel motel "bed tax," from 10% TO 13%.  This means a 50.00 room you pay an additional 1.50,total tax of 3.00. Experienced in  the Hotel /Motel business for many years this will lead the customer just to stop at the next town on there way to destinatioin to stay the night.  I will guarantee you the first question the customer will ask is,"is this tax increase just apply to Blythe?"  When they here yes they will more than likely leave.  This alone will hurt Blythe. Since motel/hotel are one of Blythes largest revenues.  It seems if one business is the only one going to have measure h applied where is the equal opportunity and fairness.  Why not if measure h is going to take affect,  let all business be a part of  that so everyone takes a part in hiring police officers, fire, maintainig our parks.   Not just the hotel/ motels that may lose a large percent of the revenue for this town  The city plans to take 1/3 of this tax money for tourist promotion, the remainder will be used for police, fire, street repairs, and park maintenance.
Blythe residents pay 30% of rental at motels which would cover tourist promotion.  Is that a neccesity right now with the economy the way it is?
We as residents suffer from the economy. So why should  we pay more to rent a room , so we can suffer more?
We as owners/ managers of the motel/hotels in  Blythe, know that this will only raise our prices, it will also affect our business, and make most of our customers unhappy as soon as they walk in our doors.  Again not only will hotel/motel business suffer the city of Blythe will at loss as well, being we are one of the city largest revenues.  Vote no on measure h.

Measure H is a ballot that will be voted ion Nov3,2009.  If passed it will increase the "bed tax" on hotel/motels.  Anyone renting a room in Blythe will pay.So a room rented for 30.00will have an additional 1.30, total tax of 4.00.
