WRIGHTS ROAD RESERVE CASTLE HILL

In August 2005, Baulkham Hills Shire Council (BHSC) sent all local West Ward residents a letter regarding the "Draft Master Plan" development of the Wrights Rd Reserve and Community Centre.

This was designed to meet identified community needs in the surrounding Kellyville/Castle Hill area. It included sporting, community and recreational facilities located on approximately 3 hectares of land bordered by Wrights Rd, Harrington Ave and Green Rd.

In accordance with Council's adopted Section 94 Works Program, and confirmed in the letter to residents dated 19 August 2005, funds had been set aside to undertake this development. The project was to commence in early 2006 for the facilities to become operational during the summer of 2006/2007.

Unfortunately, BHSC has now reneged on this development claiming that there is a deficit in funding of the Section 94 contribution plan and that there is no current timeframe available to undertake this project in the near future.

This is further compounded by the fact that asbestos is present on this site which is close to local residents, schools and shopping centres. Council has known about this contamination for years has decided to not make this public knowledge and worse still has done nothing to clean up the asbestos contamination.
