Demand change and complete transparency in ZUxMinerva Affairs

Minerva students are sitting on an abundance of unethical funds in a center that was stolen and gifted to them.

Zayed University is internationally accredited by the middle states, for now. It was the first government sponsored institution to be internationally accredited. ZUxMinerva is a program in Zayed University that has resulted in the College of Interdisciplinary studies.

It currently has around 150 students total enrolled in one of the three majors they provide. The problem arises when asking simple questions, such as who is funding this program? where is it taking place? Who is allowed in? What are the rules and regulations?

As for the funding, it is coming directly out of Zayed University and into the new program. As this is a governmental university, you may already know that it is free for locals. You may wonder 'Is the funding enough to support this new innovative idea?'. The answer to that question is no. There is not enough funding to go around.

Which is why you will be devastated to hear that Zayed University will be shutting its doors to new High School graduates starting Fall 2022. Once the last batch of students currently enrolled graduate, Zayed university will cease to exist in the way we know it today and will only exist in name and legacy. It will be known as ZUxMinerva.

This program focuses on work experience rather than studying. It is a program that does not feature any lectures whatsoever. It is a failed program that tried to pitch the idea to UAEU and failed. The higher ups and students of UAEU rejected the idea and everyone involved lost their positions.

You may wonder why would a top institution like Zayed University hire a failed program to test their ideas on their students? That is because the same people that pushed the idea in UAEU currently work in ZU and are trying to work under the table until the program is up and running. Since there will be no new students in ZU starting next Fall, there will be no one to stop this idea from being pursued.

The university has bought a new Apple laptop for each student currently enrolled in Minerva. Such hospitality has never been shown to the previously existing students. This is blatant favoritism. Zayed University students are completely out of the picture and some are completely unaware.

Many of you may know that the innovation center in the Dubai campus has been a work in progress since last year 2020. However the ZUxMinerva program has only started a mere 3 months ago. So how is it that this program has only just started but claims ownership to a center that has been in the making for over a year?

This center was a gift to ZuxMinerva from Noura alKaabi. However this center was being built as a Center to help students in all ZU colleges to start businesses. The students and faculty were given permission to go through with the building and designing of this project, however when it was time to reveal this new innovative center, it was swept right out from underneath them and gifted to the Minerva program, without the permission of the Dr. that was in charge of the whole project.

This center that was made for around 10k ZU students was gifted to 130 students of this new unrecognized and non-traditional program. Students at ZU lost their rights to a wonderful and innovative project without even knowing that it was being built over a year ago in their honor.

ZUxMinerva makes new students that just enrolled in their program sign a contract stating that if you enroll in this program, you are unable to switch to a normal ZU college major. It is an amalgamated program (both male and female students are allowed) focused on tackling real life problems and interning in multiple different companies such as Etisalat, Tesla, etc.

Zayed University has closed its doors and has let go of many employees already. Many of the Professors and Advisors that have aided the current Students and Alumni's in the previous years unfortunately do not work in ZU anymore.

This is honestly an amazing and innovative program and ZU students have no problem with the program itself. The problem arises with the lies and deceit. Why does Zayed university have to close its doors to future students? What about the legacy of our founding father? What about 'Your success is our legacy'? What about the hundreds of thousands of national future graduates that need a dependable and internationally accredited University to enroll in?
