They Found Nearly 80 Exotic Animals Suffering in Neglect at a Fake Animal Sanctuary

Nearly 80 animals, including a zebra, a horse, and dozens of others, were found living in filthy conditions at a property in Elkhorn, Nebraska. A concerned caller alerted an animal welfare group, and when investigators arrived, they discovered an operation far removed from anything resembling proper care. The man responsible now faces felony animal neglect charges, but that alone won't stop this from happening again somewhere else.

Sign the petition urging the Douglas County Attorney's Office to pursue a lifetime ban on animal ownership and mandatory mental health counseling, and calling on the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission to fully investigate and permanently shut this operation down.

Exotic animals like zebras and horses require specialized care that most home properties simply cannot provide. When operations like this present themselves as sanctuaries or rescues, they can attract donations and public trust while animals suffer out of sight.

Nearly 80 animals living in filth is not the result of one bad day. It reflects a sustained failure to provide even basic care, on a scale that should never have been allowed to grow this large in the first place.

A lifetime ban on owning animals would ensure the person responsible never has the chance to put another animal through this. Mandatory mental health counseling addresses the root of what allowed this to happen, offering real support while protecting future animals from the same fate. At the same time, Nebraska Game and Parks must investigate how an operation like this was allowed to operate at all, and ensure it cannot simply reopen under a different name once the headlines fade.

Sign the petition and demand accountability, and a permanent end to this operation.
