Offensive Caitlyn Jenner Costume Perpetuates Violence Against Trans Folks

Transgender folks face a heinous amount of discrimination, harassment, and violence in our society. And things are just getting riskier for them as Trump tries to legally define them out of existence. That's why the Halloween costume making fun of Caitlyn Jenner is in such horrible taste and will ultimately perpetuate violence against trans people. The costume is being sold for $44.95 on Amazon and other platforms and we need to send the message that we don't accept that.

Sign the petition to tell Costume Agent and Amazon to stop selling this incredibly offensive and dangerous costume mocking a transgender person.

It's disgusting that anyone would even buy this costume. The costume is of Caitlyn when she was still known as Bruce and was an Olympic athlete, but the costume adds a wig with long hair, thus hinting at her eventual public transition into her true self. The model wearing the costume is a man with a confused look on his face. If someone wanted to dress as Bruce from the 70s because they thought she was a great athlete, fine. If they wanted to dress as Caitlyn now to celebrate a celebrity living their authentic life, fine. But this middle ground is clearly meant to mock Caitlyn's transition, and that's what is so dangerous.

The costume is designed to diminish Caitlyn and other trans folks' experience by casting it as "confusion". It's also designed to be laughed at a Halloween party. Trans folks are already the butt of bigotted jokes and those jokes already add to the discrimination, harassment and sometimes fatal violence they face.

That's why both Amazon and Costume Agent must stop selling this costume. They have a responsibility to not perpetuate violence against an already subjugated group of people. Please sign the petition if you agree, trans is not a costume.
