Our nation is witnessing an alarming increase in gun violence, jeopardizing the safety of our citizens and future generations. According to the Gun Violence Archive, there were 43,551 gun violence incidents in the United States in 2020 alone, resulting in 39,707 deaths and injuries. This demonstrates a dire need for comprehensive reform of our current gun control laws. We urge lawmakers to consider stricter background checks, mandatory training sessions, waiting periods before purchases, and restrictions on high-capacity magazines. By implementing these measures we can ensure that guns only end up in responsible hands while protecting our communities from unnecessary harm.
