"When the buying stops the Killing can too"
"The numbers of some shark species have dropped as much as 80% over the last 50 years. Populations of other shark species have fallen by over 90%. Since 1972 the number of blacktip sharks has fallen by 93%, tiger sharks by 97% and bull sharks, dusky sharks and smooth hammerheads by 99%." This is inhumane! People are cutting off the fins of Sharks for a tasteless Shark Fin Soup. This is a global trade that can make a fisherman very wealthy. Once the fins are cut off, the sharks are thrown back into the ocean to suffocate, starve, to rot on the ocean floor. The problem is that Sharks grow very very slowly. Some species take more that 20 years to reach full sexual maturity. So why are we letting fishermen lay out 40 mile long fishing lines in to our waters? Half of the time they catch things they didn't need and just throw it back into the waters, dead. Help me take a stand on this global issue!
