The use of the Oregon dunes by ATV drivers has skyrocket over the past few years. Native vegetation and wildlife is destroyed or diminished. The ATV's are very loud despite a dezibel limit, the vehicels produce a lot of exhaust which can be smelled on an off limit beach for those vehicles. The loss of gas and oil may threaten the groundwater.
The dunes are unpredictable and dangerous, every year there are deadly accidents and lot of injuries. Waste and litter is produced by the rider of those ATV's and can be found along the trails. Many of them do not obey the rules established by the forest service and show rude and obnocious behavior.
The argument that they want to be in nature and explore it is not valid, if they really care about nature they should hike and observe all the many critters which flee from the noise and pollution.
Please help to end this abuse of the beautiful and serene Oregon dunes
